Lost in Translation

Well almost, thanks to Roberto Macedo Alves, we now have a translated version of the article.

“AUTHORS FROM MADEIRA IN INTERNATIONAL COMIC

Roberto Macedo Alves and Martinho Abreu drew stories for the book ‘GRIM FURRY TALES: SEEDS’

(by Paula Henriques)

Roberto Macedo Alves an Martinho Abreu are two young creators from Madeira that participated in a collective international comics project almost by chance.
After replying to the call placed in an internet forum, sending portfolios and samples of their work, they were selected and became two of the artists that were featured in the book ‘Grim Furry Tales: Seeds’, that was released at Megacon, in Orlando, Florida at Feb. 27th.
Roberto Macedo Alves found out about the challenge in August 2008 through an indication given to him by Colleen Doranm, that was his guest on the Book Fair and told him about the project that was being talked about in the internet forums in the United States. This aspiring author and also owner of the Livraria Sétima Dimensão [Seventh Dimension Bookstore] participated and told Martinho Abreu, one of the participants in the regular 12-hour comics and 24-hour comics marathons organized by the bookstore, to do the same.
After presenting their samples, they were selected and approved by Martin E. Brandt II, writer and editor of the project.
The Grim Crew reunites artists from several parts of the world. This group intends to publish several independent comic projects, besides this first project. Roberto Macedo Alves was already invited to participate on the second book, that will be released next fall.
When he sent his samples, Roberto Macedo Alves was not sure about the quality of his work and was very satisfied, because “small publishers are always an excellent place to start”. We couldn’t get reactions from Martinho Abreu because we couldn’t talk with the young author.” -Translated by Roberto Macedo Alves

Check out this new Webcomic.

These guys just started. The writer has a pretty twisted sense of humor from what I can tell.
